“ Even though one may be an incarnation of Krishna, or especially empowered by Him, he should not advertise that he is an incarnation. People will automatically accept the real truth in due course of time.” (Bhäg. 4.22.5, purport)

Dear Srila Prabhupäda,

Please accept my eternal prostrated obeisance at your divine lotus feet. All glories to Your Divine Grace, and boundless mercy upon the fallen souls.

When you were personally present, we could not understand your actual position. We thought of you as a spiritual master. But as you said of your own Guru Mahäräja, “He was no ordinary spiritual master. He saved me.” You have saved thousands of us—-including me.

“There are many hundreds and thousands of devotees of Lord Caitanya among whom there are no special symptoms, but when a devotee of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahäprabhu functions with specific prowess, he displays the feature called avesha. Sri Caitanya Mahäprabhu personally spread the sankirtana movement, and He advised all the inhabitants of Bhärata-varsa. to take up His cult and preach it all over the world. The visible bodily symptoms of devotees who follow such instructions are called avesha…The Caitanya-caritamrita states that in this age of Kali the only spiritual function is to broadcast the holy name of the Lord, but this function can be performed only by one who is actually empowered by Lord Krishna The process by which a devotee is thus empowered is called avesha, or sometimes it is called saktyavesha.” (Cc. Ädi 10.59, purport)

We pray that you will grant us the intelligence and strength to realize your actual position, to act in our proper relationship with you, and to broadcast your transcendental glories throughout the entire world, by our words and deeds.

Your unworthy yet hopeful, servant,

Giriraja Swami
