Hare Krsna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Guru Maharaj!
On page 50 of the English language “Many Moons’
HH GRS writes:
“…service to the spiritual master is the essence…i bagan to chant more in the mood of service to the spiritual master.”
Realization:
I love how he made that transition. I find that if my chanting gets dry or my mind wanders, i remember this passage and when i think of him and that my chanting is in ‘his’ service as well as a cry for Sri Krsna, then it simultaneously humbles me and swells my heart with gratitude for my own spiritual master and his mercy. The chanting gets better.
This passage is taken from “Serving with Goswami Maharaja” from the English edition of Many Moons: Reflections on Departed Vaishnavas.
This is a very important passage with a very important lesson that Guru Maharaja wishes to impart to all of us: Everything has to be done as a service to spiritual master. And service to spiritual master should be the utmost for the disciple.
I am inspired and will definitely read the whole chapter.
Thank you, Mother Sraddhanjali (Stella) for kindly sharing your realization. Wish to hear more of your realizations.
Hare Krishna.
Jaya Guru Maharaja.
Reading from Anecdotes from ‘Watering the Seed’ book, titled ‘Always remain Srila Prabhupad’s Dog'(page no. 45)
Guru Maharaj writes at the end of this anecdote,
Now whenever I walk on Juhu beach and see the different types of dogs – those with masters and those without – I remember Srila Prabhupad’s instructions and pray that I will always remain Srila Prabhupad’s dogs.
My Realization
Few days after my initiation i attended one satsang program at nearby place. Prabhuji was speaking on shraddha. During his lecture spoke about the faith (shraddha) that Srila Prabhupad’s disciples have for him. He gave example of Guru Maharaj- how he was having so much faith in Srila Prabhupad that he tolerated so many troubles at Hare Krishna land only for Srila Prabhupad. While explaining this he further said one of the disciples of HH Giriraj Swami is with us today and his name is Pandit Gadadhar Das. All the devotees said big Hari Bol!
This time I experienced the feeling of being dog of Guru Maharaj. I am just an insignificant person but being recognized as disciple of Guru Maharaj or as Dog of Guru Maharaj makes me significant and even if I just bark like dog people glorify me. This is only because of Guru Maharaj’s mercy. I am fortunate that this Dog has a Master. I wish I will always remain Guru Maharaj’s Dog.
HG Pandit Gadadhar Prabhu is dong the service of translating the “Watering the Seed” in the Marathi(one of prominent regional Indian languages). We are very thankful that Prabhuji is sharing some of his realizations on our blog.
Reading from an anecdote in GuruMaharaj’s book, Watering The Seed, titled “Where is Krishna?”
The chief justice (of Madras) respectfully presented Srila Prabhupada a sandalwood garland and a small statue of Krishna. Then to demonstrate the ecstasy the Goswamis felt in separation from Krishna, Srila Prabhupada did something wonderful. He held the statue of Krishna in front of Sarasvati, his secretary’s 3 year old daughter, and said, “Who is this, Sarasvati?”. “Krishna!” Sarasvati exclaimed..
He held the statute in front of Sarasvati’s eyes and then slowly moved it around to the side, until he had hidden it behind his back. Then Srila Prabhupada said, “Sarasvati, where is Krishna?”. When Sarasvati realized that Krishna was gone, a started look of anxiety crossed her face. Her eyes darted in all directions – “Where is Krishna?”….
…..Srila Prabhupada’s grave voice broke the silence, “Sarasvati, where is Krishna?”….
……Then a devotee said, “Sarasvati, where is Krishna? Who has Krishna?”
Sarasvati’s mind awakened with a realization. She opened her eyes wide, eyebrows raised and exclaimed, “Prabhupada has Krishna!” She immediately turned to Srila Prabhupada and rushed to his lotus feet. “Prabhupada has Krishna!”
As we observed this touching exchange, we all gained the clear realization that Srila Prabhupada held Krishna in his hand and that he could deliver Krishna to us when he felt our desire for Krishna was sufficiently intense. We also understood that Srila Prabhupada knew our inner feelings. He knew the heart of everyone perfectly. Although Sarasvati was only 3 years old, Srila Prabhupada could understand her heart. He knew just how to engage her in Krishna Consciousness.
My realizations on the excerpt
This excerpt is very special to me where Srila Prabhupada demonstrates the ease with which our bonafide spiritual master can bring upon spiritual realizations to sincere disciples irrespective of our initial capabilities or capacities to effectively grasp difficult spiritual concepts. I aspire to attract such realizations by building my sincerity.
