Eternal
WHEN I fiRST met His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupäda, His Divine Grace instructed me to read his books and to write. In one letter he wrote, “Amidst our heavy duties, we must write something to glorify the Supreme Lord.”
As we know from the Vedic literatures, to glorify the devotee is as effective as directly glorifying the Lord. Therefore in Bombay Srila Prabhupäda commented, “Krishna is already glorified, so He is more pleased when His devotee is glorified.”
Over the past weeks I have taken the opportunity to write some words to glorify His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupäda. I have written for my own purification, but on this occasion, I would like to share some of this writing with others.
Where Are You?
Prabhupäda,
Where are you?
Are you defeating
the Mayavadis,
or saving
the hippies?
Are you walking
in your garden,
smelling a rose,
or walking on the beach,
poking your cane
in the sandy arguments
of the material scientists?
Are you taking massage,
or prasädam?
I wish I was with you.
But I am not
qualified.
The next item may be a bit fanatical:
The One
Dear Srila Prabhupäda,
Lost were we
until the day
You came to us
to show the way
From mäyä’s night
to Krishna’s light.
Many may come
and many may go
but none to me
will ever show
What you have done—
not even one.
I am not happy
to state this fact
but reality exists—
the truth is exact.
You are the one
Lord Caitanya sent,
you are the one
Bhaktivinoda meant
When he said
the day will come
when Bengalis and
Britons all will be one
In chanting the name
of Sri Hari
and changing the course
of history.
We surrender ourselves
to your lotus feet
with all the souls
that we may meet
On planet earth
for ten thousand years:
all are yours;
remove their fears.
Thus we declare
without pride or shame
Who is that person,
What is his name:
BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI,
Srila A.C.,
Inscriber of the books,
deliverer of the world,
a house made for all,
a banner unfurled:
PRABHUPADA and ISKCON,
together and one
forever.
In the next item, I give my idea of how the Krishna consciousness movement is spreading so wonderfully to every town and country of the world.
Reciprocation
All you have to do
is to do
something
for him,
for Prabhupäda,
and He,
Krishna,
will do everything
for you
because he
has no other desire
than to glorify
Him.
Actually, I had the realization that Krishna is spreading Krishna consciousness all over the world just to glorify Srila Prabhupäda. We are doing so little, actually, but by Krishna’s grace that little effort is producing big results. Why? My realization is that only because Krishna wants to glorify Srila Prabhupäda, His pure devotee, is He making everything so wonderful and so successful. Krishna is even making us wonderful, mlecchas and yavanas, just to glorify Srila Prabhupäda. And why is Krishna desiring only to glorify Srila Prabhupäda? Because Srila Prabhupäda has no desire other than to glorify Krishna. So reciprocally, at least in terms of the Krishna consciousness movement in this material world (earth), Sri Krishna has no desire other than to glorify Srila Prabhupäda. And why? Because Srila Prabhupäda has no desire other than to glorify Sri Krishna.
The qualities of Srila Prabhupäda are an ocean. I have tasted only a drop of that ocean, but I hope that others more fortunate may drink from that ocean and share its nectarean contents with others.
Your worthless servant,
Giriräja Swami
